Digi Stamps
Digital stamps are becoming very popular. They offer a range of
crafting opportunities for stampers, card makers, scrapbookers and
crafters.
What are Digital Stamps?
Digital stamps, or( digi stamps) are black and white digital images(or
line art) that are downloaded onto a computer where they can be edited
or print as is. They have same appearance as stamped with black ink.
One of their assets is the fact that the images can be flipped,
resized or edited in many ways before printing. Digi stamps may be
colored in the same way that a rubber stamped image is colored. This
gives crafters and stampers a variety of new design opportunities. A
digital stamp is just an image no stamp is involved they are only
digital files. ( great for cleanup)
How are Digital Stamps or ( Digi Stamps ) Used?
Once you have printed out the digital stamp of choice, you may use it
in much the same way as a traditional stamped image. You may embellish
and or color the image. You may combine more than one image on a page
to save paper or if you need multiple images or for layering. After
coloring or embellishing the image(s) trim the image and use in your
cardmaking, crafts, scrapbooking, teacher recourses and more. ( also
keep in mind if you are experienced with a photo editing program you
may color the images in your program of choice before printing)
note: depending upon your printer ink you may need to heat set the ink
before trying to emboss or watercolor. tips for embossing: When printed
on the correct kind of paper, the ink from your ink-jet printer stays
wet long enough for embossing powder to stick to. Once the powder has
been heated, the result is a raised design that nearly looks hand-cut.
Papers that will stay wet are: paper with a slick surface that doesn’t
soak up ink immediately works great. Vellum, patterned paper with a
glossy finish, glossy photo paper, or transparency film all work well
for this technique. Have your embossing powder ready to apply to the
wet ink. You may also use an embossing pen.
Digi stamps may also be used on other objects, but you will need to
transfer the image with carbon paper or lightly trace onto tissue
paper. Place the tissue paper on object you wish to contain image and
trace again this time with a bit more pressure. There are also several
other mediums to transfer inkjet images( google “Inkjet Image Transfer
Techniques” for more options.)
There are so many beautiful images available for digital stamps and
many more added daily.
So what are you waiting for, get digi-stamping! and have fun!
